Checkered Texture Topper-Expanded Sizes

I've now re-released the Checkered Texture Topper Pattern in expanded sizes! Instructions now include a child size, and, what I believe is an easier to follow shaping sequence. The pattern has now been fully edited as well. I hope you'll enjoy the improvements to this pattern. I love working textured designs, and, I love the pinwheel top!

This sweet little hat is a quick knit with a simple pattern. It’s knit in the round, with decreases forming a pinwheel. Knit it in one color as shown, or add a second color for alternating checkers! Row gauge is important to this design, as length is worked by adding rounds within the pattern.

Here's a sweet new embellishment option for the Trail Cap, thanks to a special order Tot Topper!

Instead of adding this to the already jam packed Trail Cap Pattern, I've decided to just provide this quick embellishment as a free download here on the blog. Click here to download the instructions for the ladybug.

Caitlin's nickname is "ladybug," how perfect! She was way more anxious to play than to let me take her picture in her new hat. Fortunately, I was able to get this one-

Isn't she adorable? I hope she'll enjoy her ladybug hat this winter!

Your neighors know you are a knitter when...

you've got a wet sweater lying in the middle of your driveway! Or, they don't know you are a knitter and they just think you are really strange (more likely).

Charlie's (wet) Sheepish
Excuse the harsh lighting, I want it in the sun to dry faster of course.

I finished Sheepish today and now its drying after being blocked (yes, I unbuttoned the sweater after taking this picture). Its ready in plenty of time for Charlie's 1 year old pictures! I tried it on him today and it fits him exactly like one would hope when the cooler weather is just beginning. Its got a little room in the body/length/sleeves, but he can definitely start wearing it right away and it will look so cute in his pictures.

Cabled Deliciousness

I'm working on another something cabley! Ever since the Master Charles design, I've been itching to do more cable work. I love how satisfying it is to watch the design unfold as you are knitting it. I have a new addiction. And, I also have my hands on my very first Malabrigo Yarn.

Here's a little peek at the gorgeous Malabrigo (Green Apple) and how I'm working it so far.

Checkered Texture Topper

Just a quick note to tell you to download the currently FREE pattern for the Checkered Texture Topper RIGHT NOW! (bottom of the list of patterns on the sidebar).

I'm having it edited and it will move to become one of my for-sale patterns the week of November 9.

Be forewarned :)

Sweet Sweater on Bedhead Boy

You'd think it was early in the morning when I took these pictures by the look of Jesse's hair! Not so--its just particularly stubborn.

He's finally had a chance to wear his mommy-made sweater and I thought he looked so cute! I still think I might have liked how it turned out better if I had opted for a tighter gauge on smaller needles, but, lesson learned.

You can get this Berroco Booklet here, or, if you're in Columbia, pick it up at In The Loop, our wonderful local yarn store!

Charlie's New Face

I'm in the very lucky position right now of having two adorable little boys, at very cute ages, that are able to model almost everything (for their gender) that I'm knitting for Tot Toppers lately!

They probably don't consider themselves quite as fortunate, considering that at least a couple of days a week I make them wear 4-5 different hats for about 2 seconds at a time, just so I can snap a picture. And, I'll be honest, I don't really *need* pictures of every single I hat I knit before I send it out. However, I am obsessive about keeping my ravelry notebook up to date and that means pictures of it all. (Am I the only one like this?)

Anyhow, this past couple of weeks I've noticed a new trend in Charlie's pictures! Check out this little scrunchy grin he has going on.

I love it.

And a happy little monkey, too--
